Studying Art and Design is an opportunity to be creative, to appreciate and look at the visual world around us, different artwork and respond in a personal way. Art and Design, gives you the chance to develop not only your technical art skills, such as drawing and painting, but to explore the use of a wide range of media, technology and to develop independent thought and problem solving.

Within the department pupils have the opportunity to study Art and Design, Creative Industries and Photography.   This enables pupils to use their creative skills with a range of media and technology preparing them for a changing world.

We encourage our pupils to question and explore the world they live in a respond with creative solutions.  They can enter competitions and be part of projects that can benefit the school and the wider community.  Pupils achieve success in the department with us having a large proportion of pupils achieving an Advanced Higher through a variety of pathways.
