Curriculum:

S1 - S3 Core PE: Pupils in S1 to S3 recieve 2 periods of PE per week. Across the year pupils will take part in a variety of activities which include football, rugby, badminton, basketball, fitness, swimming & gymnastics. 

S4 Core PE: Pupils in S4 recieve 1 period of PE per week. Across the year pupils will opt into a pathway of activities offering them personalisation and choice within their PE curriculum. 

S3 Option PE: Pupils in S3 are given an options period which is 1 period per week. If pupils select the PE option period they will focus on improving their practical performance across a variety of activities. 

National 4/5 PE: Pupils from S3 onwards are given to the option to select National Qualification PE at level National 4 & 5. Pupils will study the National 4 & 5 PE courses. There are 2 pathway options available to pupils to select. The first pathway is Games & Sports where the activities in focus are Football, Basketball, Badminton & Swimming. The second pathway is Creative & Aesthetic where the activities in focus are Gymnastics, Dance & Trampolining. 

Higher PE: Pupils from S5 onwards are given the option to select Higher PE. There are 2 pathway options available to pupils to select. The first pathway is Games & Sports where the activities in focus are Football, Basketball, Badminton & Swimming. The second pathway is Creative & Aesthetic where the activities in focus are Gymnastics, Dance & Trampolining. 

Advanced Higher PE: Pupils in S6 are given the option to select Advanced Higher PE. In Advanced Higher PE pupils complete a research project within their chosen activity. 

National 4 Uniformed & Emergency Services: Pupils from S4 onwards are given the option to select this course. It is a skills for work course designed by the SQA to look at the necessary entry requirements and skills for different services (ie. Police Scotland/Royal Marines) and allow pupils the opportunity to develop these skills. 

National 5 Sport & Recreation

Sports Ambassador Programme: The Sports Ambassador programme is via application only. Pupils from S5 onwards can apply to be part of the Sports Ambassador programme. Pupils applying must be fantastic senior role models for junior school pupils. Pupils will develop a host of transferable skills necessary to succesfully lead coaching sessions. Pupils will also work towards achieving a NPA Sport & Fitness award and also potentially other accreited awards.
