At Denny High, we are fortunate to be able to offer French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Learning a language promotes a knowledge of and empathy for other cultures as well as enhancing literacy skills.

Curriculum:

Language learners will develop their skills in reading, writing, listening and talking in the Broad General Education, and will move on to National courses in S3.

In the Modern Languages Department, topics are similar across all languages. These topics include:

S1: Introductions, numbers, dates, family, pets, colours, where I live.

S2: Descriptions, school, free time, technology & holidays.

S3: Relationships, Daily routine, school, pocket money, holidays, health & food.

 

National Qualifications:

Pupils in S3 have the opportunity to achieve a National 4 qualification in French, Spanish or German.

National 5 Courses are currently available in French and German. We’re hoping to make Spanish available starting next session.

Higher courses are on offer in French and German with the hopes to add Spanish in the future.

Advanced Higher is offered in French and German.
