Primary 7 Induction Days 2026 - Thursday 4th and Friday 5th June
Primary 7 Transition
At Denny High School we have a comprehensive Primary Transition programme. Each year, we plan for the transition for our Primary 7 Cluster primary pupils, providing a range of experiences to help familiarise them with the secondary context.
Primary 7 Transition can be an exciting time for young people, but also a time of uncertainty, so we aim to support all phases of the Transition process so that our new S1 pupils feel ready for their start at Denny High School. Families are fully included in this process and we aim to provide as much information as possible to allow families to support their child too.
Primary 7 pupils experience a range of activities, such as:
- Regular visits from Pupil Support teachers to primary schools.
- Visits from Senior pupils – School Captains, STEM Ambassadors, Sports Ambassadors...
- Visits from Senior Leadership Team and Integrated Pupil Support Team
- Curricular Project Activities – a range of lessons designed and delivered by Denny High School teaching staff.
- STEM transition days
- Dance transition project- run by pupil Dance leaders
- Enhance transition
- Induction Days
The success of our transition programme is also attributed to the close working relationships we have with our Primary colleagues.
Our Integrated Pupil Support/ ASC staff attend Team Around the Child meetings and support transition for young people with Additional Support Needs, or who require an enhanced transition experience.
We hope you find the information contained in this section useful. If you have any questions about any aspect of the Transition Process, please contact us.
